She carries the nature of her Progenitor, Inari, which allows her to be both cunning and mischievous for the benefit of her clan. She doesn't want to be mistaken for being similar to her father, who displayed similar personality traits in the name of cowardice.Every decision Ayume makes is carefully calculated and thought out beforehand. A natural-born strategist with a desire to protect her clan from those who may one day do them harm. Ayume Koubu is the youngest of two children born to the former head of the Koubu Fox Clan, Isao Koubu. The details of her mother's name and life are unknown to Ayume since she passed while she and her brother were very young. The Koubu clan resides atop a mountain and is located within the city limits of Koumiya, where many of the remaining Beast clans dwell. The Fox clan is small compared to the other clans, so their estate reflects their size and is situated behind the Koumiya Grand Shrine. The shrine in which Ayume has been tasked as its caretaker.The Koubu Family are descendants of ancient rulers who worked alongside the other Beast clans to rule over humanity. They're born with the traits of foxes while being adept in both speed and agility. Skills once used to maintain proficiency in battle eventually became a crutch that allowed later generations to deceive and evade rather than utilize those abilities to gain physical prowess. They refrained from training the body and instead focused on training the mind. Increasing their ability to cast powerful illusions on anyone who opposed them.Ayume grew up as the Koubu clan's princess and was only taught the basic skills required to protect herself until her early twenties after her father was murdered. Though still inexperienced, she trains daily to strengthen her mind while seeking to regain battle-ready abilities lost to years of passiveness. Her hope is that by doing so, she'll be able to protect her family and fulfill the forgotten duties of her ancestors.

Ayume is the head of the fox clan, one of the many beast clans that have roamed the world since time immemorial.The Fox clan specializes in spiritual practice and were once reliable herbalists, known for their quick remedies for just about any ailment. Over time, their remedies became redundant as the world around them developed its own medical practice. Now only a few within the clan still carry the knowledge of these ancient remedies.

The Clan

Like many of the other beast clans, the Koubu clan were granted bestial traits by their progenitor, such as fox-like attributes and reflexes. Gifting them the ability to move faster than the average human and the proficiency to control that speed.The foxes make up for their lack of strength by being meticulous tricksters. They acquired a greater affinity to the mind through spiritual training rather than training their bodies.

The Story

The Fox clan sometimes faces discrimination from some of the other beast clans due to years of passivity. It began when their ancestors retreated to the mountain, which led to them being perceived as cowards.The only clan to keep close ties with the foxes was the Tiger Clan.After inadvertently acquiring a role as the family head, Ayume aims to change this perception by becoming the strongest leader the Fox Clan has seen in generations.

The Koubu Family presents traits known to foxes; such as long pointed ears and various tails depending on the level of an individual's ability.It is not uncommon for its members to be shorter and more slender compared to the other beast clans.If an individual chooses to do so, they can mask their fox-like characteristics behind a veil created to make them appear as a normal human.

The Shrine

The Koubu family runs the Koumiya Grand Shrine, with Ayume as its lead caretaker. The shrine honors the fox clan's progenitor and is seated atop of a mountain within Koumiya.Offerings to the shrine are said to award its guests with good fortune. However, Ayume siphons power from each prayer to aid her overall conquest for power without her family's approval.The true name of the shrine and its original purpose are unknown to outsiders.

Head of the Migakaze clan; The Tiger who safeguards the world. Behind his titles, a childhood friend of Ayume. While they did bond in childhood, there was also an underlying mutual respect between the two that carried into adulthood. Isao Koubu

Former Head of the Koubu Clan and father to Ayume and Ryota. Victim to the generational pressure placed upon each family head before him. A result that led to him forcing those same values onto his children. Never show any weakness or emotion. Never let anyone know what you're truly thinking. And above all else, always protect the clan no matter what befalls them. While his values were generally always meant with good intentions, Isao was actually quite the coward in his own right. Like his predecessors before him, he raised his children to be cautious and untrusting. Preparing them to use deceit and evasive tactics as a means to protect themselves and their clan. He was constantly fearful for the wellbeing of his clan, as foxes are rarely the combatant type. While guided by fear, he placed immeasurable expectations on his only son so that Isao's mind over the wellbeing of their clan could be at ease. Unfortunately, he wouldn't know the consequences of his actions until it was too late.

Ryota Koubu

Ayume's elder brother. Named for the pressure that was placed upon him by their father. He was raised with strict authority and was put through rigorous training so that he could one day take his father's place as the family head. Those expectations ultimately resulted in a downward spiral that led to the accidental murder of their father. Now a rogue member of the Fox Clan, Ayume has had to fill the shoes that were never intended to be hers to wear.

Yoshihiro Koubu

An elderly member of the Fox Clan whom Ayume often goes to for guidance since she has no parents of her own to seek advice from. Despite appearing much younger for her age, she is of the wisest in the clan. Usually, whatever Yoshihiro says to Ayume is law and she hardly goes against her wisdom. The only exception is Ayume's current goal of obtaining power, as Yoshihiro strongly advises against it and believes that her plan will place an unwanted target on their backs. She prefers the low profile they've kept all this time.Here recently, Yoshihiro has taken to teasing Ayume about her feelings towards Takii. She wants nothing more than to see the Koubu Clan leader after everything she's been through in recent years.

Masanori Koubu

A highly respected member of the Fox Clan, a distant relative to Ayume, and a close friend of her father who stepped in to train Ayume after her father's murder. He's stoic and operates on a "tough love" agenda. Since he believes that showing too much compassion will ultimately hinder Ayume's growth and ability as a leader. He also does this to avoid unintentionally replacing the role of being a father figure in her life.He's not too fond of Ayume's recent infatuation with the Tiger Clan head. Not because he has any ill feelings towards the Migakaze Head, but because he can see Ayume becoming more lax. Which makes him believe that she's too distracted to keep up with her duties and training.

Reiko Koubu

Found abandoned at the tori gate to the Koumiya Grand Shrine at roughly two years of age. Now aged five, she is a resident in Ayume's home. Ayume expends a great deal of aura to conceal the child as one of their own, giving her the appearance of a fox despite being a regular mortal. The small human child doesn't speak a word or even produce any sound. A possible weakness of Ayume's despite her reluctance to admit that she sees Reiko as her daughter. She foolishly holds onto hope that her real parents will come back for her one day.Reiko hasn't outwardly given her opinion of Takii yet. She does, however, show a hint of excitement when he visits the shrine. Mostly because she hopes he's brought her some of her favorite candies.Ayume often uses her abilities to make Reiko appear as one of the Koubu clan members by giving her fox-like traits.
